About Us

Our mission is to promote the sustainable beautification of the City of Solana Beach through social interaction, garden education, and home and civic enrichment.

Gardening enthusiasts who live in Solana Beach and neighboring communities are welcome to join our monthly meetings and volunteer activities.

Our spring meetings typically include a garden tour. In addition to visiting members' home gardens in Solana Beach, we have enjoyed private tours at Solana Succulents and Bird Rock Tropicals. Each fall, we raise funds through plant sales. In December, we gather our garden trimmings and weave holiday wreaths.

The club’s roots date to 1953, when the Women’s Civic Club, now known as the Solana Beach Civic & Historical Society, formed to focus on the beautification of Solana Beach. It was renamed in 2004 when Donna Golich, Gerri Retman-Opper and others adopted the task of maintaining a community garden section of the Coastal Rail Trail. Local landscape designer Katie Pelisek and Sandy Parish formally revived the SeaWeeders in 2012. The Club's current president is Kathleen Drummond.
